Clinical trials of the gamaleya center's coronavirus vaccine have been completed

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, August 1. Clinical trials of the coronavirus vaccine developed by the national research center for epidemiology and Microbiology named after N. F. Gamalei of the Ministry of health of Russia have been completed, and documents are being prepared for its registration. Russian health Minister Mikhail Murashko told reporters on Saturday.
"The vaccine against coronavirus infection developed by the Gamalei center has completed clinical studies, and now a package of documents is being prepared for the registration procedure," he said.

According to the Minister, medical workers and teachers will be the first to be vaccinated against coronavirus infection with a drug developed by the center.

"After receiving the registration certificate, the vaccines will be applied, and there will be parallel [monitoring], [it] will begin in parallel with the vaccination of special groups - first of all, doctors and teachers, and there will be more monitoring of vaccinated patients," he said, answering a question from TASS.

The Russian Ministry of health plans to start more mass vaccination against coronavirus in October, Murashko said. "We plan that there is already a broader [vaccination], but we should gradually enter the new system of assistance, it will be more in October," he said.

The Minister added that another vaccine developed by the state scientific center of Virology and biotechnology "vector" of Rospotrebnadzor is now at the stage of clinical research. In addition, the Ministry of health expects that two more coronavirus vaccines will apply for permission to conduct clinical trials on volunteers in the next 1.5 - 2 months.
