Russia launches a powerful offensive Strategy against HIV

In the next six months, the Ministry of Health was obliged to submit an action plan for the implementation of the State Strategy to Combat the Spread of HIV Infection until 2030. The task is to reduce the annual increase in the incidence from 76,000 cases in 2020 to 45,000 in 2030, reports "Vademecum" . The task was also announced for the next 10 years to completely eliminate discrimination against people with HIV.

Subjects with high morbidity will be closely monitored in terms of early diagnosis. The possibility of medical examination for HIV infection of all patients who sought medical help in connection with sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis B and C, and tuberculosis was announced.

In addition to screening, antiretroviral therapy coverage will be expanded to 95% of HIV patients. In parallel, there should be a reduction in the cost of therapy due to import substitution of drugs and improvement of mechanisms for control and monitoring of pricing.

The government says that the centralization of the procurement of antiretroviral drugs made it possible to increase coverage to 68.9% of patients registered with dispensaries (at the end of 2019, there were 742.3 thousand of them). Next year, the Ministry of Health is going to increase funding for drug purchases to 29.4 billion rubles.

By the way, apparently, the treatment regimen will be revised, since the share of efavirenz at a dosage of 600 milligrams should decrease with government purchases and the share of the drug at a dosage of 400 milligrams should increase (this dosage is less toxic). Officials also talk about the need to develop domestic equipment and diagnostic test systems, as well as to organize reference laboratories at various levels.
