Established in October 1958, The Grodno State Medical University is the highest-ranked Medical University in Republic of Belarus located at Grodno, Belarus. GrSMU is the oldest medical school in Belarus and is considered the best medical university in Belarus. It specialises in medicine and medical psychology. GrSMU is a successor of the first medical school in Belarus, the Grodno Medical Academy, established in 1775 by Antoni Tyzenhaus, former mayor of Grodno, for improving almost nonexistent healthcare system in the city.

This university has one of the biggest medical libraries in the country containing 4,20,000 copies of textbooks as well as the library has various materials like CDs, medical journals, periodicals etc. Internet connection is also given to the library so that there is online access to the biomedical database.
