Founded in 1964, Astana Medical University (AMU) is a higher-education medical university situated in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. AMU is one of the biggest and the most dynamic medical universities in Kazakhstan, located on the banks of Ishim River and the city has a population of 1,029,556.It is the second coldest capital city in the world. It has the continental climate with warm summers and very cold winters. In summer, the temperature reaches more than 35 degree Celsius. But in winter, the temperature between -30 and -35 degree Celsius. In 1964, the Council of Ministers of the Republic adopted the declaration for opening Astana Medical University. In the year 1997, AMU was authorised as a medical academy. In 2009, the Institute was rewarded the status of the University. Apart from offering medical education, the university is also prominent in the field of medical science development and clinical activities.

FACULTY AND STAFF - There are seven faculties at this university which include Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Nursing, Preventive Care, Pharmacy, and Postgraduate Education.The staff of this universityentails to 873 teachers who impart quality medical education to around 5,185 students of the university. There are 112 doctors of medical science, 280 candidates of medical science, 62 professors and 67 associate professors. Apart from the medial education and courses, Astana University also offers MBA programs in Hospital Management.
PLACEMENT AND SCOPE OF AMU– A student who undertakes any medical program of the University would be able to work as a doctor both in Kazakhstan and in the other countries as well. There is also a scope to start their own practice in any country after qualifying the screening exam of the country.
