Peoples Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) is also known as RUDN university, located in Moscow, Russia. It was formed in 1960 by the USSR government to assist the progress of third-world students and the oppressed people who strive for freedom and rights. The major objective of the university at that time was to help the developing nation as the cold war weighed on them. With this agenda, the university hoped to facilitate educational opportunities for young and unprivileged people from Asia and Africa such that they can become qualified specialists and progress through the path of sustainable development. In 1965, the first batch of 288 students graduated from the university.
The first batch included students from 47 countries. Under the guidance of Professor Vladimir who was also an Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, the RUDN university displayed a remarkable growth during the period of 1970 to 1993. Foreign students from 89 countries became a part of the academic group and the duration of subject courses were increased from 5 to 6 years.
Peoples Friendship University of Russia hosts 162 departments over 17 faculties. The current number of students enrolled in the institution are more than 33 thousand. Among them, approximately 10 thousand are international students. Currently, admissions of students and interns from 157 countries are accepted. It is one of the very few MBBS Russian Universities that has a huge population of foreign students. To further promote collaboration, the university has tied up with prestigious foreign universities such as Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, University of Cadiz, and Hankuk University of Foreign Languages for 150 educational programs.
Universities from different regions including UK, Germany, Italy, China, and others have collaborated with PFUR for organizing 46 bilateral cooperation programs. More recently in 2018, around 800 students participated in student exchange program. To ensure that the foreign students are well able to communicate with teachers and other students and looking at the huge number of foreign students at the university, PFUR has arranged for additional diploma of translator course in 12 foreign languages. The university not only aims to extend its services to foreign students but also strengthens the community by educating youth with the spirit of respect and patriotism.
Sports and leisure: The university has a sports complex that is built on a large territory. There are 4 football fields, gymnastics, 15 tennis courts, and other sports facilities. For leisure, there are shops and restaurants. There is also an international student cultural centre within the campus.
Resourceful central library: The library is equipped with 2,500.000 volumes of literature. Books in different languages is available in the facility.
Medical assistance: The university policlinic is available for treating medical issues and problems of students. PFUR also includes a rehabilitation centre that comprises of state-of-the-art facilities.
